The capacity of the National Agency for Public Health (ANSP) laboratories for diagnostics of COVID-19 cases will be enhanced with the assistance of Switzerland.

As the Ministry of Health said, it provided the regional ANSP laboratories in Balti, Chisinau and Cahul with auxiliary equipment and consumables within the framework of the Healthy Lifestyle: Reducing the Consequences of Non-Communicable Diseases project, funded by the Swiss Cooperation Office and implemented by the Swiss Institute of Tropical and Social Healthcare.

The equipment donated includes mini-centrifuges for the control and diagnosis of SARS-Cov-2 infection, thermo-blocks, sets of calibration equipment, reference strains, sets of consumables for processing the polymerization reaction, refrigerators to ensure conditions for transporting samples for analysis.

The cost of the equipment is 46 thousand of Swiss francs or 840 thousand of Moldovan lei.

"The Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection would like to thank Switzerland for its donation, especially for strengthening of laboratory capacity. During the pandemic, the most important thing was solidarity between the countries, and this gesture of Switzerland once again demonstrates its friendship with Moldova," said the State Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Constantin Rimis.
