PRESIDENT SUPPORTS EDUCATION MINISTER WHO PROHIBITS OUTSIDERS’ ACCESS TO SCHOOLS

18 september, 2020

President Igor Dodon supported minister of education Igor Sarov, who forbade politicians and other outsiders to access to educational institutions. Dodon said in the course of his traditional weekly live communication with citizens on Friday: "I support this decision. I think it's a correct order”.

He agreed that in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, access to educational institutions should be restricted.

"Many politicians attend schools during the election campaign, as well as hold meetings with voters in the premises of schools, kindergartens, etc. Presidential candidates do not need to engage in politics at schools," the president said.

At the same time, he admitted that during the visit to the districts the day before he visited two lyceums.

"It's different - I was invited by the teaching staff," Dodon said.

Last week, Minister Igor Sarov called the actions of Dodon, who visited schools without a mask and without other precautions, "insulting teachers."

The day before, Sarov signed a prohibition order for outsiders to enter schools during the period of health emergency. This happened after Vladimir Mizdrenco, a deputy from the pro-presidential Socialist Party, posted photos of the opening ceremony of a sanitary site in one of the schools on social media. At one of the photos, two children stood in the toilet and held a red ribbon, which was cut by the deputy.
