LAST WEEK BROUGHT ANTI-RECORDS IN DAILY AND WEEKLY CoV INCIDENCES

The past week brought new anti-records in daily and weekly COVID-19 incidences, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection reported on Monday.

Last week, the Ministry registered 5764 new coronavirus cases. In the previous 2 weeks, incidence was below 5 thousand, though two weeks in mid-October brought 5572 and 5704 cases, respectively, and, in addition, a daily anti-record was registered in that period – 1149 cases during one day (October 14).

From the past week’s second half, the daily incidence began growing noticeably: last Wednesday – 1020 cases, Thursday – 1159, Friday – 935, and last Saturday – 1174 cases, with the number of tests carried out daily remaining at approximately same level – 3 thousand to 3.5 thousand primary tests. And all in all, Moldovan laboratories have made 394,986 tests, both primary and secondary ones. The number of positive results of primary tests remains very high – 25% to 30% daily.

This past Sunday, 671 new CoV incidence cases were revealed upon analyzing 1816 primary tests. Thus, the total COVID-19 incidence figure reached 82,346.

Yesterday, only 2 people died, bringing the death rate to 1893. And last week 93 people passed away, which figure is slightly lower than in previous weeks, which were more than 100 human lives per week. Nevertheless, by the death rate Moldova is standing on one of the highest places in Europe – more than 470 cases per a million population.
