CURRENT PRESIDENT IGOR DODON VOTED FOR “MOLDOVA’S INDEPENDENCE AND STATEHOOD”

15 november, 2020

Incumbent President of Moldova, independent candidate Igor Dodon voted for strengthening the statehood and independence of the country. He stated this to journalists at his polling station, where he came together with his wife Galina on Sunday morning.

“I voted for the independence and statehood of the Republic of Moldova, for the strengthening of its statehood. I believe in this country’s future. Hundreds of nationalities are living in our country and I voted for peace, for interethnic harmony. “It is impermissible to divide our citizens, to divide them for ours and the separatists. All of them are our citizens - in Moldova, and in Milan, and in Transnistria, and in Moscow, and in Bucharest - our citizens vote everywhere,” Dodon said.

He also stressed that he voted “for the changes, as the country needs changes.”

“I voted for improvements as we need high-quality changes, not shocks and crises, and these will be ensured. We have a team to ensure these changes,” the President noted.

The current head of state also stated that he voted "for a balanced foreign policy."

“I voted for a balance in external relations. I do not want Moldova to become a pawn in the international geopolitical games. We must develop and maintain good relations with the European Union, and with Russia, Romania and Ukraine,” Dodon empathized.

He also stressed that he voted “for the memory of our ancestors, for our Orthodox traditional values.”

“I am glad that citizens are active. The voting activity is higher than in the first round. This means that citizens show responsibility and patriotism no matter where they are: at home and abroad,” the candidate said.

Asked about the reported instances of organized transportation of voters from the left side of the Nistru, Igor Dodon urged “to consider the situation as a whole.”

“It goes to double standards and approaches. We know how voters are transported at the polling stations abroad. Why can't the residents of Transnistria be brought up, but in Stuttgart or Frankfurt they can?!,” Dodon asked.
