DOCTORS WILL BE INSTRUCTED HOW TO USE COVID-19 VACCINE

12 january, 2021

Representatives of Moldovan medical institutions will take part in courses on the use of the COVID-19 vaccine. They will be held online with the assistance of the World Health Organization (WHO) on January 13-14.

According to the Ministry of Health, the training will ensure proper distribution, storage and use of the vaccine, as well as the necessary actions after immunization in case of possible side effects.

“The ministry began preparatory measures for receiving the vaccine at the beginning of the second half of 2020. In particular, to ensure the storage of vaccines at all levels, an assessment was made of the situation with the availability of refrigerators to maintain the temperature regime. All healthcare facilities have vaccine storage conditions at +2 + 8 C, public health centers have freezers that provide a temperature of -20 C, and the Public Health Agency has a freezer for storing 100 thousand doses of vaccine at -70 C,” the state secretary of the ministry Tatiana Zatic said.

The Global Fund-funded COVID-19 Response Mechanism has requested the purchase of four more freezers, which will arrive by the end of January.

As soon as the vaccines arrive in the country (the first shipment is expected at the end of January), the drugs will be placed at the Public Health Agency's warehouse. The transfer of the vaccine to health care facilities will be carried out by means of special containers and a refrigerator. The vaccine will need to be administered in a short time: no more than 120 hours from the moment it is placed in the refrigerator.
