25 january, 2021

Last week, the number of new COVID-19 infection instances continued to diminish in Moldova, according to the data presented by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection on Monday morning.

The Ministry registered 3348 new coronavirus cases last week, which was a little less than revealed the week before, when the figure was 3463, and that was a sharp decrease of incidence – by more than two-fold compared with last 10 weeks of 2020, when each coming week was bringing 8-10 thousand new COVID-19 cases. And the proportion of positive test results has dropped to 20-25% in January compared with 50% that used to be revealed in early December.

Last Sunday, Moldovan laboratories revealed 265 positive test results upon the carrying out of 1162 primary tests. The total incidence figure has thus reached 156,202 in Moldova.

Last week, Moldovan hospitals discharged 3798 recovered coronavirus patients, which number was one thousand people fewer than the week before. Upon the whole, 146,948 Moldova citizens have overcome the disease.

However, 111 people died last week, precisely like the week before, thus having brought the COVID-19 death rate to 3361 persons.
