CORONAVIRUS INCIDENCE DIMINISHED BY ANOTHER 30% LAST WEEK – MoH
Last week, the coronavirus incidence dropped by another one-third – down to 2239 cases against 3242 revealed the week before. And three weeks ago, the incidence figure was 4680, which is more than twice higher than now, the Moldovan Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection reported on Tuesday.
The last week’s figure covers actually 8 days, including May 3, which was an official day off in the republic. Due to the Easter holidays, private laboratories in Moldova did not work, so only 620 tests were carried out on Monday that revealed 43 new COVID-19 cases – the smallest figure since the beginning of 2021.
Last 2 months, the number of tests done daily went up to 5 thousand and even higher on some days. And the number of positive results dropped to 10% of the total number of tests done. Last week, the number of tests carried out since the pandemic beginning exceeded one million, namely reached one million and 3 thousand tests, including 28 thousand done last week.
Last week, 3811 people received recovery certificates, which figure is about 40% smaller than in previous several weeks, and the number of recoveries was 1.5 times higher than was the last week’s incidence figure.
Since the pandemic beginning, 251,378 people caught the coronavirus disease, and 241,216 of them recovered.
The death rate also diminished last week – to 120 cases from 159 the week before. The total death rate has thus amounted to 5850 people.
