NEARLY 4% MOLDOVAN POPULATION ALREADY VACCINATED AGAINST COVID-19

06 may, 2021

To date, almost 4% population in Moldova have been vaccinated against COVID-19, epidemiologist Angela Paraschiv of the National Agency for Public Health told a news conference on Wednesday.

"We have vaccinated 151,145 people, which is practically 4% population. Of them, 18,358 citizens have received both vaccine doses. Among medical workers, the vaccination level has reached 82%. As a result, coronavirus incidence among healthcare personnel has sharply dropped. So, we are calling all people to get vaccinated as soon as only such possibility appears. All the vaccines available in the republic have demonstrated their efficiency. So, one should get vaccinated with any vaccine available near at hand", said Dr. Paraschiv.

According to her, after injecting the first dose of a vaccine, coronavirus was revealed with 332 persons, which makes 0.22% of the total number of vaccinated people.

"On the average, CoV infection is diagnosed on the 12th day after vaccination. This means that the first dose does not give full guarantee against infection. Therefore, it is necessary to receive two doses", said the specialist.

In her words, side effects were revealed with 1265 people i.e. with 0.83% vaccinated citizens. And 96% of such people suffered light forms of the disease - muscular pains, a slight temperature rise, pain at the injection place. And the rest 4% people had medium-gravity side effects - allergy, temperature of about 38.5 degrees centigrade. And no severe instances of side effects have been registered up to now.

Answering journalists' questions, other representatives of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection said that Moldova does not take stock of its citizens vaccinated in Romania or other countries.

"But when we launch an electronic vaccination register, we will work out a mechanism of including all vaccinated citizens into it", said MoH State Secretary Igor Curov.
