GOVERNMENT APPROVES LIST OF GOODS THAT MAY BE IMPORTED BY MOLDOVAN LABOR MIGRANTS RETURNING HOME FOR GOOD

The Moldovan Government has approved a list of goods that the labor migrants returning to their homeland can import into the country without paying customs duties. The Wednesday-approved list has been published on the governmental website Thursday.

According to the governmental Resolution, Moldova citizens aged 18 and older, having permanent or temporary residence permits for staying in a foreign country and who have lived there for not shorter than 48 months and who are returning home for good,, may avail themselves of redemption of paying customs duties on the importation of certain goods.

The approved list specifies the number of items of clothing and footwear, as well as kilograms of used clothes, bed linen, curtains, kitchen utensils, etc. Also, each representative of the Diaspora returning to Moldova for permanent residence has the right to import one car, three pairs of watches, two carpets, two gas stoves, as well as one washing machine, dishwasher and sewing machine, a computer and a laptop, a vacuum cleaner, a coffee machine , TV set, scooter, bicycle, etc.

In order to receive exemption from customs duties, a list of items being imported must be submitted to the Customs in advance. It will be possible to import them into the territory of Moldova through the same border point, regardless of the method of their transportation, within three months after obtaining a permit. Also, measures are provided so that these goods cannot be sold for a certain time.
