03.02.2012Aurelia Hincu has said that she was illegally discharged from the post of the republican center for children and youth Artico’s Director, and has filed a suit against a respective order signed by Minister of Education Mihai Sleahtitchi.

UNITED IN ART TO BETTER UNDERSTAND THE ROMA PEOPLE IN MOLDOVA

“Ograda Noastra” NGO informs that on May 12, 2009 in Minjir community (rayon of Hincesti, Republic of Moldova) there has been created an other interest club  - “Roma Club II) for Roma kids  from that location. Within the club participate a number of about 25 kids who are assisted by a group of volunteers, members of the local Roma organization  - “Opre o Ciacimos” NGO as well as by an expert in painting and fine arts. For the beginning within the club there will be organized activities with cultural character such as drawing and painting on Roma motives, while starting with June there are planned a number of other different types of activities meant to raise the level of participation and civic responsibility among both beneficiaries and local population.

This initiative is organized by “Ograda Noastra” NGO with the support of Open Society Institute, Budapest within “United in art to better understand the Roma people” project.

Under this initiative there is planned to organized two local exhibitions of Roma kids’ art works and a festival in Cahul (on 1st of June – on the occasion of Children’s international Day) the purpose of which is to grow awareness through art about Roma realities while creating a positive image of Roma people in Moldova without stereotypes and prejudices about Roma.
 
We would like to remind that the first Roma Club in Moldova was founded in Zîrneşti location (rayon of Cahul), initiative that still continues its activity up to this moment. The Roma Club in Zîrneşti is attended by about 20 Roma kids.
