RUSSIAN AND TURKISH PRESIDENTS’ TRUSTEES BACK NIKOLAI DUDOGLO’S CANDIDACY FOR GOVERNOR OF GAGAUZIA

14 january, 2015

The trustees of the Presidents of Russia and Turkey, Vladimir Homeriki and Ali Inji, have stated their support for the candidacy of the New Gagauzia Movement leader Nikolai Dudoglo for Bashkan [Governor] of the southern Moldovan autonomous region of Gagauzia.

Homeriki stated at the Movement’s 4th congress held in Comrat on Tuesday that unlike other politicians in the autonomous region, Nikolai Dudoglo has proved himself to be an efficient leader and manager who has done very much for the development of Comrat, which town Mayor Dudoglo has been heading for many years.

The Russian President’s trustee said that some politicians in Moldova try to gain popularity and publicity by using Putin’s name, “but Putin has never supported anybody here, so photographs with President Putin are nothing but deception”.

Homeriki emphasized, “The fact that they met and got photographed with Putin does not mean anything. Our President backs only those politicians, who act in the interests of their nations, not of another state. We support the politician who works in the interests of Gagauzia as an integral part of an integral Moldova, not of another state. I think that Gagauzia will make a correct choice, and Nikolai Dudoglo will become its Bashkan”.

Ali Inji said at the congress that Gagauzia, with a powerful Bashkan, should become a bridge in Turkey-Moldova bilateral relations.

“In the conditions when Turkey and Russia are consolidating their political and economic relations, Moldova and Gagauzia ought to be doing all in their powers to have their relations reach a new level”, said the Turkish President’s trustee.

He conveyed greetings from President of Turkey Mr. Tayyip Recep Erdogan “who supports Nikolai Dudoglo and regards him as a strong leader capable of uniting the residents of Gagauz Yeri [Gagauz Land]”.

As already reported by Infotag, the candidacy of New Gagauzia Movement leader Nikolai Dudoglo for Bashkan of the Gagauzia autonomy was supported unanimously by more than 1 thousand congress delegates on Tuesday.
