28 january, 2015

The ballot-papers at the March 22 gubernatorial elections in the southern Moldovan autonomous region of Gagauzia shall be topped by Valery Yanioglo, Deputy Chairperson of the Gagauzia Executive Committee [regional government] until recently, who has suspended his duties for the election campaign period. This became known following the draw ceremony held by the Gagauzia election commission among first 8 applicants for candidacy, who have submitted their lists of citizens’ signatures.

The second position in the ballot-papers went to Sergey Buzaji, 3rd – to Ruslan Garbaly, 4th – Nikolai Dudoglo, 5th – Oleg Kaiky, 6th – Irina Vlah, 7th – Oleg Garizan, and 8th – Alexandru Stoyanoglo.

Six more applicants for candidacy are raising citizens’ signatures yet. Meanwhile, the regional election commission has already embarked on checking the submitted signatures.

According to the latest amendments to the Gagauzia election code, now Bashkan post seekers must submit minimum 1,500 signatures of Gagauzia residents in their support, which number is thrice smaller than previously.
