OSCE REPRESENTATIVE THINKS 5+2 FORMAT TALKS HAVE TO BE RESTARTED BEFORE END OF THIS YEAR
The Special Representative of the Serbian OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the Transnistrian Settlement Process, Ambassador Radojko Bogojevic, believes that the 5+2 format negotiations on Transnistrian conflict settlement have to be resumed before the conference of OSCE foreign ministers to be held in Belgrade next December 3-4.
Ambassador Bogojevic said at a news conference after his meeting with Moldova’s Political Representative at the Transnistria negotiations, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Affairs Victor Osipov in Chisinau on Tuesday: “We are making efforts in this direction, and are finding understanding of other negotiation participants. I have already visited Moscow and Kiev that are supporting the proposals on negotiation restarting. I also hope for enlisting the support of Brussels and Washington. Next week I will be in Brussels, after which will come back to Moldova to meet with Tiraspol’s political representative Nina Shtanski”, said Ambassador Bogojevic.
He highlighted the position of Chisinau that also stands for talk continuation.
“I hope the negotiations will be restarted to achieve progress and resolve accumulating problems”, said Radojko Bogojevic.
As already reported by Infotag, due to the Tiraspol side’s position, 5+2 meetings would not have been held for more than one year now. In 2014, the sides had only 2 meetings instead of the projected five.
