YEVGENY SHEVCHUK READY TO COOPERATE WITH CHISINAU AND KIEV TO UNBLOCK PMR ECONOMY

Tiraspol is ready to build constructive relations with Chisinau and with Kiev to unblock the Transnistrian economy, announced unrecognized Transnistrian Moldovan republic (PMR) leader Yevgeny Shevchuk during Tuesday’s meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the USA to Moldova James Pettit in Tiraspol.

According to the PMR president’s website, Shevchuk expressed hope that in perspective he with partners will try to seek a compromise for solving these problems at the negotiation table.

This meeting with the American Ambassador was the first since February 2015 and was focused on situation in relations between Transnistria and Moldova.

Shevchuk told about the impact on Transnistrian economy of the regional instability, as well as blocking measures, taken by Moldova and Ukraine.

“The restrictions of Transnistrian economic agents’ external trade activity, artificially created by neighboring countries, are negatively affecting revenues to the budget”, he said, expressing also concern about the situation on the Transnistrian-Ukrainian border.

Ambassador James Pettit said the US is interested that Transnistria to be prosperous and people to live well.
