TRANSNISTRIA SUGGESTS ORGANIZING TRIPARTITE MEETING OF RAILROAD OFFICIALS

26 august, 2015

Profiled Transnistrian experts have proposed to organize a tripartite meeting of railroad representatives of Transnistria, Moldova and Ukraine. The proposal was put forth at the meeting of the Chisinau and Tiraspol working groups on railroad affairs, held at the Bendery Office of the OSCE Mission to Moldova on Tuesday.

The Transnistrian ministry of foreign affairs wrote in this connection that the parties continued their discussion of the changes, which the Moldovan and Ukrainian railroad authorities, acting in concert, introduced into the scheme of cargo movement at the Slobodka-Rybnitsa railroad segment.

Moldovan experts are saying that the cargo movement organization, stipulated in the corresponding supplement to the Protocol Decision “On Some First-Priority Measures to Ensure Freedom of Movement for the Populations of Transnistria and the Republic of Moldova” of March 30, 2012, has remained unchanged.

But Tiraspol representatives, on the contrary, regard the Moldovan authorities’ actions as restrictive and ones inflicting a substantial damage to Transnistrian economic operators.

The Transnistrian side called upon the Moldovan colleagues to revise their “unilateral decision” and to return to the status-quo as of August 1, 2015 by means of sending a corresponding telegram to the Ukrainian railroad administration.

It is believe that the next working meeting of railroad representatives, proposed by the Moldovan side, should take place yet before the meeting of the sides’ Political Representatives scheduled for September 10.
