EACH MINISTRY SHALL HAVE OFFICIALS IN CHARGE OF TRANSNISTRIA-RELATED QUESTIONS

28 april, 2016

Each ministry of government in Moldova shall have special officials in charge of tackling questions having a relation to the Transnistrian region or/and to Transnistrian conflict settlement, the Government decided at its working meeting on Wednesday.

These questions will be entrusted to a deputy minister and a senior executive officer in every ministry. The Cabinet believes this should enhance the realization of the Government’s country reintegration plans.

On the request of Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration or the Bureau for Country Reintegration, ministers shall ensure the proper work of the said civil servants, who will be helping the Bureau in preparing documents and materials necessary for negotiations with Tiraspol. Besides this, they ill be taking part in the sittings of profiled working groups of experts to promote the policy of building confidence between the two Dniester River banks.

Earlier this week, speaking at a meeting of the parliamentary Standing Committee for Foreign Policy and European Integration, Moldova's Deputy Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Andrei Galbur called as “inadmissible” the situation when officials from various Moldovan ministries have differing positions on the Transnistrian conflict settlement and related issues.

“We all must have one policy with respect to Transnistria, and all our ministries and agencies of government must follow such state policy”, stressed Andrei Galbur.
