TRANSNISTRIA DISAPPOINTED WITH RAILROAD GROUP MEETING

22 july, 2016

The Chisinau and Tiraspol expert groups on railroad transport and the sides’ customs authority representatives held a working meeting at the Chisinau Office of the OSCE Mission to Moldova on Thursday, after which the Transnistrian side characterized their Moldovan partners’ position as unacceptable.

The Transnistrian ministry of foreign affairs wrote in this connection that the meeting was initiated by the Transnistrian side due to “the critical situation that has developed at the Transnistrian market of oil products due to the blockading of the fuel supplies to Transnistria by Moldova and Ukraine.

Transnistria called the meeting participants to return to the previous logistical schemes of cargo supplying from the Ukrainian territory agreed on in March-June 2012 – “schemes that were optimum for the railroad operators and economic agents of both Transnistria and the Republic of Moldova”

According to the Transnistrian foreign ministry, the Moldovan side, however, is going to work according to a new scheme, agreed upon with its Ukrainian partners, and is now insisting that Transnistrian importers must receive from Chisinau the permissive documents for the importation of fuel and lubricants.

Infotag’s dossier: Neither the Republic of Moldova Bureau for Country Reintegration, nor the National Railroad Company of Moldova (CFM), nor the Government of Moldova have provided whatever information about that “railroad meeting” or Moldova’s position on this dispute.
