GAGAUZIA BASHKAN MEETS WITH AUTONOMY WINEMAKERS

02 august, 2016

Gagauzia Bashkan [governor] Irina Vlah conducted a meeting with winemakers of the autonomy in the run-up to the visit of RosPotrebNadzor [Russian Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-Being] experts, scheduled for this week.

The branch representatives told about problems, in particular, about the fact that the existing duty on winemaking goods, charged in the Russian markets, prevents the export growth.

Vlah said that the issue of its canceling will be considered at the nearest meeting of the Moldova-Russia intergovernmental commission.

RosPotrebNadzor experts will inspect the technological process and the ready products at five wineries of the autonomy. Two more economic agents are preparing documents for coming to the Russian market. These are producers of sparkling wines “Pearl” and “Tatcomvin”.

In 2015, Gagauz wine sales to Russia went up by 22% and accounted for 178 million lei (US$8.9 million).
