The Defense Ministry of Moldova has repeatedly expressed concern about participation of the Operative Group of Russian Troops (OGRV) in anti-terrorist military exercise in Transnistria.

According to the Ministry’s press service, members of the Bureau of the Military and Air Attache at the Russian Embassy to Moldova were invited in the agency for discussions, initiated by the Ministry. Head of the Ministry Department for Defense Policy and Planning, Colonel Alexandru Harea touched upon the OGRV activities in the Transnistrian region and aspects of the Moldovan-Russian Cooperation.

He said that the Moldovan military agency condemns the organization and conducting of the so-called anti-terrorist exercise in the region, participation of OGRV units in these with attraction of the highest leadership of Tiraspol regime.

“Such actions are against principles of international law are illegal and unacceptable, confirm the necessity of unconditional withdrawing from the Moldovan territory of the OGRV, which has no legal status. Besides, the ORGV ammunition must also be withdrawn”, the press release says.

Harea demanded Russian diplomats to inform the Russian Defense Ministry leadership about the Moldovan Ministry’s dissatisfaction with OGRV actions for taking necessary measures for avoiding recurrence of such situations.

As Infotag has already reported, in July and August, the OGRV military conducted a whole range of exercises in Transnistria jointly with PMR power structure divisions. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, the Bureau for Reintegration and the Defense Ministry have made statements condemning such actions of the Russian military.
