​TRANSNISTRIA PRESIDENTIAL POST TO BE CONTESTED BY 7 CANDIDATES

Ballot-papers for the December 11 presidential election in the unrecognized Transnistrian republic will include 7 candidates, the regional election commission decided last weekend upon registration of the last candidate – Irina Vasilachii.

This week, the commission will approve the ballot-paper text and will start printing them in about 10 days afterwards.

Commission chairperson Elena Gorodetskaya said to the press that this week all constituency election commissions will receive all voter lists for the territories concerned.

“We are inviting all voters to their territorial commissions to check the presence of their names in voter lists and personal data correctness. The commissions will send printed invitations to all homes to make such checks and on December 11 – to come to the polls”, said Gorodetskaya.

The region’s supreme post will be contested by Transnistrian supreme soviet speaker Vadim Krasnoselsky, incumbent president Yevgeny Shevchuk, former minister of the interior of Transnistria Gennadii Kuzmichev, Transnistrian Communist Party leader Oleg Horjan, Transnistria region prosecutor Alexander Deli, Director of the Tiraspol branch of the Odessa Law Academy Vladimir Grigoriev and unemployed Irina Vasilachii.
