​GAGAUZIA ADOPTS REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY

The Gagauzia Regional Development Council, headed by autonomy Bashkan [governor] Irina Vlah, approved on Tuesday the Strategy of autonomy’s regional development 2017-2020.

According to the Gagauzia Executive Committee, the document targets the achievement of a sustainable economic growth and raising of region’s competitiveness, ensuring of access to quality public services and improvement of the system of control in the field of regional development.

Gagauzia Regional Development Agency Director Valeriu Yanioglo said that the development of the document was facilitated by specialists and consultants from the Moldovan Regional Development Ministry and development partners. Besides, the draft was put for public discussion and the received additions and commentaries were taken into account at its revision.

After the regional Development Strategy, developers intend to prepare several sectoral programs, including on autonomy socio-economic development.

Also, meeting stakeholders agreed upon stages of implementing 11 priority projects, approved by the Regional Development Council before. Besides, six projects have been included in the Unified program document, including the reconstruction of the Ferapontievca-Avdarma road. Works on implementing this project are assessed at 29 million lei and will be completed in 2017.

Besides, the implementation of two infrastructure projects will start in the territory of the autonomy this year – the equipping and connection of the Comrat industrial park to communal infrastructure and access ways, as well as reconstruction of the access way to the Ceadir-Lunga business incubator, the optimization of the solid waste management system in Vulcanesti.
