22 february, 2017

A commission will be formed in Moldova soon on working out proposals on Transnistrian conflict settlement to be composed of the representatives of the president, parliament chairman and prime minister, Igor Dodon announced at the press briefing on Tuesday.

In his opinion, besides questions of social protection and raising of living standards in the country, power branches must collaborate on other issues as well, so as to have common positions. To such issues, the three officials attributed the Transnistrian conflict settlement.

President Dodon stated: “We have differences on many issues, but there should be no discord in what concerns national interests. One of such questions is the Transnistria settlement. We may hold debates on lots of minor issues, but we must have a common stance on fundamental questions to resolve the Transnistrian problem within the 5+2 negotiating format. We have agreed to create a platform for discussion and for working out such a position. This will be a commission that will consist of the representatives of the president, parliament and government. From the head of state, this will be Presidential Advisor on Country Reintegration Vasile Sova”, said Igor Dodon.

Parliament Chairman Andrian Candu added that the commission will be involving also independent experts, including foreign ones, in its activities.
