​REGIONAL COMMISSION FOR EMERGENCY SITUATIONS URGENTLY MEETS IN COMRAT

An urgent meeting of the regional commission for emergency situations with specialists of the Apele Moldovei state enterprise was conducted in Comrat on Monday in connection with the breach of dam at the local reservoir. According to Gagauzia Emergency Situation Unit, the water flooded 427 hectares of land, including nine households.

The stakeholder decided to start dam rehabilitation. Comrat utility services and the lake tenant forces are involved in these works.

The reservoir is on the books of Apele Moldovei agency. It is used for already 60 years. It was established that the outdated hydro-technical facilities of the reservoir were not working, which prevented from making a controlled water discharge.

Gagauzia executive committee is considering the possibility of taking the lake on the books of the autonomy for its consequent rehabilitation. The next stage will be technical inventory of all the water ponds, located in the territory of Gagauzia.
