Transnistria and Gagauzia

QUOTATION OF THE DAY

16 march, 2017

“The would-be joint control at the Cuciurgan border-crossing station pertains to the bilateral Moldo-Ukrainian relations and will not lead to situation aggravation for economic operators or the Transnistrian population. The establishing of a due order in this sphere may affect unpleasantly only those who go in for smuggling, trafficking in human beings and other unlawful doings and schemes. Since 2015, the Transnistrian side has not replied to our invitations to take part in the negotiations with the Ukrainian side as a part of the official Moldovan delegation. And now Tiraspol is saying that the joint control will worsen the Transnistrian conflict settlement process. This is misleading the society because our initiative stipulates but simplification of all border procedures and improvement of the quality of services”, stated Moldova’s Political Representative at the Transnistria negotiations, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Affairs Gheorghe Balan.
