MOLDOVAN AND TRANSNISTRIAN LAW ENFORCEMENT TO UPDATE THEIR ACCORDS ON INTERACTION

This year’s first meeting of the Chisinau and Tiraspol expert groups on combating crime was held in the Chisinau Office of the OSCE Mission to Moldova on Wednesday.

The parties reaffirmed the importance of a soonest-possible preparation of an updated accord on the principles of interaction of the sides’ law enforcement agencies on the basis of proposed draft initiatives. They also resumed negotiating the problem of criminal prosecution of Moldovan and Transnistrian officials.

The Transnistrian delegation head, deputy minister of the interior Ruslan Mova informed the assembly that for the sake of brisking up negotiations on this problem, the Transnistrian side has ceased the criminal prosecution of 10 Moldovan officials.

Mova called the Moldovan side to undertake concrete steps, too, “to low down the temperature of this topical question”.
