RUSSIAN WORLD FOR TRANSNISTRIA IS A CULTURAL-HISTORIC CORE – KRASNOSELSKY

22 june, 2017

The 'Russian World' for Transnistria is a basic cultural-historic core, the basis of the Transnistrian people’s identity, Transnistrian president Vadim Krasnoselsky stated, speaking at the international conference “Russian World: the Present and the Future” dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Russian World Foundation held in the country’s main Kremlin Palace in Moscow on Wednesday.

Krasnoselsky said in his report called “Russia and Russians on Dniester River Banks” that Transnistria and Russia are united by a centuries-long history, common language, culture and moral values, and by the common Orthodox Christian religion.

In his words, precisely the Transnistrian people’s choice to be together with Russia became the reason of the military aggression unleashed against Transnistria by the pro-Romania regime in Moldova in 1992.

Vadim Krasnoselsky is convinced that nowadays, too, Transnistria is remaining under the pressure of a complex of factors caused by the confrontation of interests of the West and of Russia.

“However, I am sure that it is not late yet to reverse the negative trend of conflict aggravation and to prevent our sliding into an abyss. For this, the Transnistrian people badly need the support of the whole Russian World”, said the Tiraspol leader.

The rest of his address was practically a repetition of his recent speech at Oxford and at the news conference in Tiraspol upon his return from Great Britain.

The huge forum has gathered in Moscow prominent Russian and foreign political and public figures, scientists, literature writers, people of culture and many foreign guests, including a representative Transnistria delegation. The conference considered the questions of consolidation of the Russian language’s positions in foreign countries as well as the role and place of the 'Russian World' in the new world architecture.
