UKRAINIAN MP POINTS NATIONAL SECURITY COUNCIL’S ATTENTION TO THREATS FROM RUSSIA AND TRANSNISTRIA

10 august, 2017

Deputy of the Ukrainian Supreme Rada [parliament] Irina Friz addressed to the country’s National Security and Defense Council with proposals on the situation in Transnistria.

According to Ukrainian media, she said that lately, unhealthy signals come from the self-proclaimed PMR and pointed at factual actions on withdrawal from peace agreement and a different vision of the contents of international documents on Transnistrian conflict settlement.

Among these she emphasized the giving to the Russian flag of the status of second state flag in the region, as well as Tiraspol’s intentions to legitimize the institute of Russian bailiffs in the territory of Transnistria.

“Such a development of the situation in the southwestern direction demands from Ukraine resolute politico-diplomatic actions. In this connection, I direct to secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Alexander Turchinov a document with proposals on minimizing the threats of Russian subversive activities against Ukraine from the side of PMR, as well as on returning Tiraspol to fulfilling the liabilities within the peaceful agreement”, the MP wrote in social networks.

According to her, Ukraine also has to take decisive actions concerning Transnistria’s successive steps towards an Anschluss with Russia at Kremlin’s tacit consent.
