Chisinau is firmly determined to achieve a consensus on Transnistrian conflict settlement, Moldovan President Igor Dodon stated in the course of his Friday’s meeting with Andreas Peschke, Director for Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia of the Federal Foreign Office of Germany.

The President wrote on his Facebook page afterwards that the Moldovan side seeks to work out, together with the Transnistrian side, a model of political settlement of the Transnistrian question and of a post-conflict development of the Republic of Moldova.

In this context, Dodon highlighted the accords reached lately in the 5+2 negotiating format that have received a new impulse thanks to the Berlin Protocol signed in June 2016.

“The Protocol and my meetings with the president of Transnistria Vadim Krasnoselsky in 2017 facilitated the signing of the protocols on realization of a package of measures to strengthen trust between the Dniester/Nistru River sides”, believes Igor Dodon.

The President highlighted Germany’s contribution to the Transnistrian negotiation process development on the bilateral level and with the help of the OSCE and the European Union.
