GAGAUZIA SPEAKER STANDS AGAINST MOLDOVA TO DIVORCE CIS

19 january, 2018

Chairman of the Gagauzia Popular Assembly Vladimir Kyssa [elected on the DP party lists] said before the Tuesday’s GPA sitting that he personally is against the idea of Liberal Party leader Mihai Ghimpu that Moldova should withdraw from the CIS.

He said he hopes for his colleagues’ support.

“Such initiatives are untimely and unacceptable for Moldova. The 21st century is not the time to divide the states into friends and enemies, it is the time to build bridges of friendship and integration project development. I recommend Chisinau politicians not to divide the society by such initiatives in conditions when half of the population stands for the European vector of development, while the other half – for the Eastern vector”, Kyssa said.

In his opinion, Moldova’s leadership has to concentrate on other goals – the development of economy and the social assistance of the population.

“We can take Georgia as example, which is successfully developing relations with the East and the West and the Turkic world”, he said.
