TRANSNISTRIA HAS BEEN LONG INDEPENDENT, IT JUST NEEDS DIPLOMATIC RECOGNITION – PMR PRESIDENT

12 february, 2018

Leader of Transnistria Vadim Krasnoselsky maintains that the region has long been a successful and independent state; all that remains to do is to achieve diplomatic recognition. He said this at the Friday’s extended sitting of the Transnistrian ministry of the interior board, dedicated to the Day of Diplomatic worker, marked in Transnistria on February 10, just as in Russia.

“Very often, many argue that Transnistria is striving to achieve independence. We have long achieved it. Everyone has to understand it. We are an independent state with all the attributes, with power and administration authorities, banking system and economy and the people. We have to go on to the next stage – to achieve the recognition. We cannot achieve it if we keep living in the same quiet swamp and stew in our own juice”, Krasnoselsky said.

He called on diplomats to more actively promote Transnistria’s image abroad. The Tiraspol leader said that there are tangible results on this way. Thus, last year representatives of the Transnistrian administration and the ministry benefited from the possibility to present their position at various international platforms in Moscow, London, Tel Aviv, Rome, Brussels.

The sitting participants appreciated the success of the Transnistrian diplomacy, due to which five protocol agreements were signed last year.

“Some politicians dare stating that conflicts in Transnistria, Abkhazia, South Ossetia, Nagorny Karabakh, in other regions should be defrosted. We believe that the conflict should be frozen, while good-neighborly relations between former conflicting sides should be defrosted, compromise should be sought and issues should be resolved for the good of people. Those politicians who are talking about conflict defrosting are politicians of war. We are politicians of peace. We have a radically different concept”, Krasnoselsky said.
