ADVISOR TO OSCE SPECIAL REPRESENTATIVE ARRIVES TO CHISINAU

Advisor to Special Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, member of the Italian Foreign Ministry Main Department for Political Affairs and Security Alfredo Conte arrived to Chisinau on Tuesday to familiarize with the evolution of negotiation process on the Transnistrian settlement.

According to the Bureau for Reintegration, Deputy Premier Cristina Lesnic met with the Italian diplomat and told about the measures, taken by Moldova on implementing agreements, achieved in late 2017.

The Italian diplomat welcomed the sides’ efforts on fulfillment of liabilities and stood for timely (by the end of February) concluding by the sides of the agreement on mechanism of Transnistrian road vehicles’ participation in the international road traffic.

On Wednesday, Alfredo Conte is visiting Tiraspol to meet unrecognized Transnistrian Moldovan republic minister of foreign affairs Vitaly Ignatiev, who is as well political representative of Transnistria in negotiation with Moldova.

As Infotag has already reported, since January 1, the OSCE Chairmanship passed from Austria to Italy. Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs Angelino Alfano became Chairman-in-Office of the organization. His Special Representative Franco Frattini is responsible for the issue of the Transnistrian conflict settlement. In a telephone talk with Lesnic on February 9, he said about the intention of his advisor Alfredo Conte to visit Moldova, while in March he personally is planning to travel to Moldova, including Transnistria.
