ADVISOR TO OSCE SPECIAL REPRESENTATIVE VISITS TIRASPOL TO DISCUSS NEGOTIATION PROCESS

The situation in the negotiation process between Moldova and Transnistria, the process of implementing the late-2017 agreements and perspectives of progress in other problematic issues were discussed by unrecognized Transnistrian Moldovan republic minister of foreign affairs Vitaly Ignatiev and Advisor to Special Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, member of the Italian Foreign Ministry Main Department for Political Affairs and Security Alfredo Conte on Wednesday in Tiraspol.

According to the region's ministry website, a special attention was given to the current stage in the process of elaboration of a mechanism for Transnistrian vehicles' participation in the international road movement.

"The problem has a chronic character and there is enough volume of technical international recommendations and an established progress in the sides' dialog in negotiations on its resolving. Given the time frames of resolving this sensible socio-humanitarian issue, established by the Vienna protocol, we have to stick to a compromise approach, demonstrating political will and sincere interest in the final settlement of the problem", said Transnistria's main negotiator.

Italian diplomat expressed appreciation with the dynamic and the results, achieved over the last several months.

"We see real improvement, real agreements, real results for the population, first of all this is due to the sides' courage", he said.

According to the advisor, his arrival is a preparation for the upcoming visit of the OSCE Special Representative Franco Frattini to Moldova and Transnistria.

Ignatiev said that he is eagerly waiting for all the aspects and issues of mutual interest and are related to negotiations.

"I hope that we will together continue creating conditions so that the Italian Chairmanship to be efficient and first of all people to get good results in this negotiation year", the diplomat said.
