POLITICAL DIALOG WITH CHISINAU IS OUT OF THE QUESTION - TRANSNISTRIA LEADER

06 march, 2018

Political dialog between the Transnistrian Moldovan Republic [PMR] and the Republic of Moldova is "out of the question and is just impossible" at the present time, maintains PMR president Vadim Krasnoselsky.

In an interview with Russia-24 news and analytical television channel Krasnoselsky said that over the 27 years of separate existence, independent and differing legal systems have developed in "the two neighbor states".

"Some politicians in Chisinau complain that the political elites of Moldova and Transnistria are not able to reach a consensus. But they cannot violate the laws of their countries. And none of the sides would wish to change its legislation", said the Tiraspol leader.

In his words, the Transnistrian authorities are "advocates of a pragmatic approach".

"We want to solve the problems of the people living on both sides if the Dniester River. And the 5+2 negotiating format works in this direction as well, in which Russia acts as an international guarantor and mediator. Last year, Tiraspol and Chisinau had managed to reach agreements on a number of important questions. The current agenda includes a block of other questions. I think it is important to necessarily achieve real results at resolving concrete questions, for empty political battles cannot lead to anything useful", said Vadim Krasnoselsky.
