OSCE MISSION HEAD COMPLIMENTS TRANSNISTRIAN LEADER FOR ACTIVITY

Ambassador Michael Scanlan, the Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova, has highlighted the personal involvement of Transnistria president Vadim Krasnoselsky into the negotiation process and remarked that this activity promotes the achievement of accords on significant questions of the settlement agenda.

On Monday, Michael Scanlan met in Tiraspol with Vadim Krasnoselsky and, while discussing the relationship between Moldova and Transnistria, remarked that such approach has led the negotiation process to a qualitatively new level that is marked with practical realization of concrete decisions reached by the conflict sides with the participation of international mediators, the Transnistrian presidential press service has reported.

According to it, the interlocutors discussed also the need for achieving progress on Vienna Protocol questions. Ambassador Scanlan drew attention to the road transportation problem, having expressed hope for a soonest-possible finding of a mechanism for the participation of Transnistrian motor vehicles in the international road traffic. He also mentioned as significant the problems related to the politically motivated criminal cases and to citizens' freedom of movement.

The parties underlined the importance of an active and concrete interaction of all dialog participants for achieving practical solutions for the people's interests. It was pointed out that OSCE Special Representative on Transnistria Franco Frattini is expected to visit Transnistria on March 27.
