GAGAUZIA GOVERNOR CALLS ON SIDES INVOLVED IN CONFLICT AROUND GRT TO RENOUNCE DESTABILIZING ACTIONS

Gagauzia Bashkan Irina Vlah wrote on her Facebook page on Tuesday that the attempts of forced seizure of the Gagauziya Radio Televizionu public company are discrediting Gagauzia in the eyes of international and Moldovan society, as well as undermine autonomy citizens’ trust in regional authorities.

“Hasty accusations against the GRT create tensioned atmosphere in the company personnel, questioning the providing of material and technical assistance from Turkey and Russia. I strongly condemn the methods of threatening and blackmailing the GRT leadership and personnel by certain deputies of the Gagauzia Popular Assembly (GPA) and the Moldovan Parliament, affiliated to the Democratic Party and the public organization “New Gagauzia”, she said.

According to Vlah, the question about the legality of one or another membership of the GRT Supervisory Board should be resolved exclusively in court, but not through political pressure and threats of physical reprisals against opponents.

“The GPA has to stop tough trample of the audiovisual legislation for the sake of political goals. I propose to the GPA, the company leadership, members of the current and the newly-elected GRT Supervisory Board to take a pause and state about the readiness to fulfill the court decision whatever it is. From my side, I guarantee to the GRT personnel the right to artistic freedom and the objective coverage of events in Gagauzia”, wrote the Gagauzia governor in social networks.

Infotag’s dossier: On April 11, company members conducted a rally, where GRT Acting Executive Director Pyotr Vlah said that the company risks to be seized by members of the organization “New Gagauzia”, headed by DP parliament deputy Nicolae Dudoglo. According to local analysts, the previous members of the company Supervisory Board (whose powers are challenged in court) were subordinate to the autonomy Bashkan and her political allies.
