ROGOZIN SUMMONS TRANSNISTRIA LEADERSHIP FOR INTER-MINISTERIAL CONSULTATIONS HELD IN MOSCOW

20 april, 2018

A high-ranked Transnistrian delegation led by president Vadim Krasnoselsky flew to Moscow urgently on Friday to take part in the inter-ministerial consultative meeting convoked by President Putin’s Special Representative on Transnistria, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin.

According to the Transnistrian presidential website, the meeting is dedicated to questions of interaction with Transnistria. The participants are discussing the practical realization of the Russia-Transnistria cooperation agenda proposed to the Russian side last April 2 to promote Transnistria’s socio-economic development and realization of the humanitarian rights of Russian fellow-countrymen residing in Transnistria.

President Krasnoselsky is being accompanied in the voyage by Transnistrian prime minister Alexander Martynov and Tiraspol’s political representative in the negotiations with Moldova, Transnistrian minister of foreign affairs Vitaly Ignatiev.

In early April, Krasnoselsky had already visited Moscow and met Rogozin to discuss the Transnistria-Russia interaction in trade and economic sphere. The parties discussed existing initiatives on attracting Russian investments in the Transnistrian economy and ways to simplification of the Transnistrian produce’s access to the Russian market. The sides then called as “destructive” any calls to reformatting the peacekeeping operation on the Dniester “that ensures the conductance of a peaceful political dialog at a negotiating table”.
