CHISINAU AGAIN ASKS RUSSIAN MILITARY NOT TO TAKE PART IN VICTORY PARADE IN TIRASPOL

07 may, 2018

The Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration has again expressed its concern about the intention of the Operative Group of Russian Troops (OGRV) deployed in Transnistria to take part in the military parade to be held in Tiraspol on May 9 on the occasion of the 73rd anniversary of the Great Victory over the Nazi. The Ministry called upon the Russian authorities "to abstain from such defiant behavior with respect to the constitutionality of the Republic of Moldova".

The Ministry wrote on its official website on Friday that the OGRV's participation in any actions of military character with Transnistrian power structures inflict damage to the Transnistrian conflict settlement process and to consolidation of trust between the Dniester River banks.

"Such actions grossly undermine the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova, adherence to which the Russian leadership has expressed openly and repeatedly", said the document.

Its authors have reaffirmed the Moldovan authorities' position on the need to withdraw the Russian troops and their arsenals from the Republic of Moldova territory.

As was already reported by Infotag, OGRV subdivisions regularly participate not only in military parades in the unrecognized Transnistrian Moldovan Republic (PMR) but also hold joint military exercises, sportive tournaments and cultural events with the PMR army and other power structures. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration has many a time protested against that, but all in vain.
