TIRASPOL LEADER REITERATES TRANSNISTRIA WILL NOT LIQUIDATE ITS POWER POSTS ON THE BRIDGE

Transnistria is not intending to remove its power-structure posts on the Gura Bicului/Bicioc Bridge across the Dniester River, despite Moldova's constant demands, the region's leader Vadim Krasnoselsky stated on Monday during his meeting with 'Transnistria Defenders' organization members. He reminded that the bridge [damaged during the 1992 armed conflict] was reconstructed yet in 2002 but had not been controlled since then. Now, after its official commissioning recently, the security of the movement of persons and cargoes is guaranteed by the customs, border and peacekeeping posts on duty there. "The Transnistrian side is not going to change its stance. We say: if there are the posts, there will be the bridge", he stressed, and added that upon the accomplishment of all repair works, the Gura Bicului/Bicioc Bridge will be opened also for trucks weighing 10 tons and more.
