TRANSNISTRIAN SUPREME COURT STARTS CONSIDERATION OF CRIMINAL CASE AGAINST YEVGENY SHEVCHUK

04 july, 2018

The Transnistrian supreme court started to consider the first criminal case against former Transnistrian president Yevgeny Shevchuk. The court will have to consider eight criminal cases against the former official. There are two episodes in the first one: US$1-million bribe (allegedly received by Shevchuk) and authorization of wages and pensions deduction. The court hearings take place behind closed doors and in the absence of the accused. After the end of the mandate, Yevgeny Shevchuk stayed in Chisinau under the protection of the Moldovan police for a long period of time, after that he left the country. Presumably, he lives together with his family in St. Petersburg.
