PROFESSOR MATSUZATO RETURNS TO TRANSNISTRIA AFTER 6 YEARS

Professor Kimitaka Matsuzato, Director of the Slavic Research Center at University of Hokkaido in Sapporo City has again visited Tiraspol, where he was in 2012 last time.

The press service of the Transnistrian ministry of foreign affairs reported in this connection that the prominent Japanese scientist studies the questions of protracted conflicts in the FSU countries, so he has visited Transnistria already several times.

Foreign minister Vitaly Ignatiev, Transnistria’s political representative at the conflict settlement negotiations with Chisinau, told the guest about the situation developing in and around the negotiation process, and about Transnistria’s initiatives, “which have permitted to achieve a positive dynamic in the dialog with Chisinau and to focus on resolving the existing socio-economic and humanitarian problems”.

Vitaly Ignatiev highlighted “the considerable progress achieved in attracting investments in Transnistria”.

The Transnistrian foreign minister made a present to Professor Kimitaka Matsuzato – the book “The Politico-Legal Basis for International Recognition of the Independence of the PMR [Transnistrian Moldovan Republic]”.

Kimitaka Matsuzato thanked Vitaly Ignatiev for the detailed and useful communication and pointed out the positive changes that have occurred in the republic since his previous visit.
