DEPUTY PREMIER LESNIC HOLDS MEETINGS IN STRASBOURG

Moldova's Special Representative for Transnistria negotiations, Deputy Prime Minister for Country Reintegration Cristina Lesnic has paid a 2-day visit to Strasbourg, where she discussed Transnistrian conflict settlement questions with a range of profiled officials.

In particular, she met with President of the European Court for Human Rights (ECHR) Guido Raimondi, Head of the Council of Europe Directorate for Political Affairs Alexander Hessel, Verena Taylor, Director of the Council of Europe Office of the Directorate General of Programs (ODGP), and Anna Capello, Head of the Confidence Building Measures Division of the Council of Europe's Directorate of Political Affairs.

In the meeting with Guido Raimondi, the interlocutors exchanged opinions on the claims pending examination by the ECHR, including the ones that have come from the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova.

Cristina Lesnic informed the ECHR President on the latest developments in the Transnistrian conflict settlement process and in the finding of approaches to resolving the population's social problems.

Guido Raimondi thanked the Deputy Prime Minister for delegating three Judges from Moldova to the European Court for Human Rights.

In the conversation with the Head of the Council of Europe Directorate for Political Affairs, Alexander Hessel, the parties touched on questions included into the Chisinau-Tiraspol negotiation agenda, their dynamic and challenges.
