NOT EVERYTHING IS SMOOTH IN TRANSNISTRIA NEGOTIATION PROCESS - SERGEY GUBAREV

03 octomber, 2018

Dynamic in the Transnistria negotiation process is obvious, but there are certain problems, too, President Putin's Special Envoy at the Transnistria negotiations, Russian Foreign Ministry Ambassador-at-Large Sergey Gubarev said, commenting on the results of his visiting Chisinau and Tiraspol this week.

On Tuesday, the diplomat said in his meeting with Transnistria president Vadim Krasnoselsky that, to his great regret, the situation is developing not so smoothly as can be read in some reports. The conflict settlement work is still coming across certain difficulties, "but the information we receive in the course of consultations with Tiraspol and Chisinau representatives has helped us to get a clear vision of the current situation in the negotiation process".

From his part, Krasnoselsky offered an opinion that "a necessity is ripe again to discuss the negotiation situation in the format of 5+2 i.e. to analyze the current dialog of profiled expert groups, the progress of implementation of the accords reached between Transnistria and Moldova, and other issues".

"The process is going on. Much is being fulfilled. But there are essential things that need to be discussed and the sides' positions to be updated so as to continue our movement forward by joint effort", said the Tiraspol leader.
