MOLDOVAN PRESIDENT AND PMR LEADER TO DISCUSS TELEPHONY REHABILITATION

19 december, 2018

The implementation of the agreements on rehabilitating telephony, achieved within negotiations, is the question number one on the agenda of the upcoming meeting of Moldovan President Igor Dodon with unrecognized Transnistrian Moldovan republic (PMR) leader Vadim Krasnoselsky.

At the Tuesday's press conference, the PMR president said that the company "InterDnestrCom" is functioning in the region, which ensures quite a good quality of telephony, internet, digital television.

"However, from the point of view of international law, we should be stable. We conducted around 30 meetings of working groups on this issue, we had understanding from the side of Moldovan negotiators and in the end everyone came to the conclusion that the law should be changed to give the right to get regional license, which has been done", Krasnoselsky said.

He expressed surprise about the position of Moldovan Socialists, whose faction left the parliament sitting room trying to undermine the document adoption.

Answering question about Transnistria's ministry of defense for next year, he said that efforts will be focused on repairing infrastructure, technical equipment and providing of new uniforms.

"This is very important. We have to maintain our army in proper, decent conditions, ensuring good catering and living conditions to the young people, as well as quality uniforms and good combat training. We are moving in this direction in stages. We will not completely move to contract-base army. We will have a mixed army - conscript resource and contract army. This is correct. This is our goal for the perspective", the Tiraspol leader said.
