TRANSNISTRIAN FOREIGN MINISTER VISITS MOSCOW, DISCUSSES CONFLICT SETTLEMENT SITUATION

11 april, 2019

On Wednesday, the chief negotiator of the unrecognized Transnistrian Moldovan Republic, its minister of foreign affairs Vitaly Ignatiev met in Moscow with President Putin’s Special Envoy at the Transnistria negotiations, Russian Foreign Ministry Ambassador-at-Large Sergey Gubarev.

In continuation of their discussion held during Sergey Gubarev’s visit to Tiraspol in early April, the interlocutors continued their consideration of topical issues of the current situation of the Transnistria-Moldova negotiation process. The parties confirmed their common position on the urgent need to resume the dialog at all levels, including primarily the working meetings of profiled expert groups and of the Sides’ Political Representatives.

Vitaly Ignatiev and Sergey Gubarev spoke also for a maximum-possible engagement of the potential of the international negotiation mechanism called “Permanent Conference for Political Questions in the Framework of the Negotiating Process on the Transnistrian Settlement in the 5+2 format”, and for a soonest-possible holding of an ordinary 5+2 format meeting.
