TIRASPOL LEADER SKEPTICAL ABOUT POLITICAL DIALOG WITH MOLDOVA

29 july, 2019

Transnistria president Vadim Krasnoselsky can see no grounds for holding a political dialog with Moldova and believes that Russia shares his opinion. He stated this in Bendery city on Sunday at the celebration of the 27th anniversary of the start of the peacekeeping operation on the Dniester River.

Krasnoselsky voiced surprise that “against the background of the definite success of the 1992 peacekeeping mission on the Dniester, politicians from the neighbor Moldova are casting doubt on the presence of Russian and Transnistrian warriors here and are demonstrating their desire to change the format of the peacekeeping mission for an inarticulate police format”.

“The Transnistrian people’s attitude to the peacekeepers is clear and understandable. For us, the warrior peacekeeper is the same warrior liberator who cleansed our land from the Nazi plague in 1944, and who stopped the annihilation of the Transnistrian people in 1992”, stressed Vadim Krasnoselsky.

In his words, the peacekeeping operation on the Dniester is unique because peace and calm are guaranteed here by peacekeepers from Russia, Transnistria and Moldova as well as by military observers from Ukraine.

“This is an effective format and a good example to follow by others – instead of closing it down. Those who seek to cancel the peacekeeping on the Dniester have no relation to a peacekeeping process, for they are interested solely to electrify the situation here”, stated the Tiraspol leader.

On the occasion of the holidays, the ancient Bendery Fortress became an arena of a festival of martial arts called “We Thank You for the Peaceful Sky”.
