MOLDOVAN, TRANSNISTRIAN LEADERS MEET IN BENDER

05 november, 2019

Moldovan President Igor Dodon and leader of Transnistria Vadim Krasnoselsky had an informal meeting in the Bender Fortress on Sunday. The Moldovan head of state wrote about this on his Facebook page on Monday.

"I had informal meeting with head of the Transnistrian administration Vadim Krasnoselsky in the territory of the fortress. Besides, we introduced our wives one to another. We had an excursion through the fortress and I highly appreciated the region administration's efforts, who managed to revive the next cultural and historical object, which attracts many tourists", Dodon wrote.

He pointed that together with Krasnoselsky they celebrated the Day of National Unity - an important state of the Russian Federation - Moldova's strategic partner.

"I regard this informal talk with Mr. Krasnoselsky as productive one and I believe we have to regularly hold meetings at the level of leadership and simple citizens from both sides of the Dniester River", Dodon said.

Last week, on October 29, a formal meeting of leaders from the two sides of the Dniester River took place. This was the first meeting in 2019 and the 6th over three years of presidency. The meeting lasted around 5 hours. It is not excluded that at the Sunday's meeting leaders of Moldova and Transnistria agreed on their positions before the informal conference on support to confidence building measures between the sides, which started in Bavaria on Monday.
