GAGAUZIA GOVERNOR WILL SUPPORT INITIATIVE ON TRANSFERRING GPA ON PROFESSIONAL BASIS

26 december, 2019

Gagauzia Bashkan Irina Vlah regards as correct that the autonomy’s legislative body – the Gagauzia Popular Assembly (GPA) to be working on permanent basis.

Speaking on Gagauzia local television she stated that it is necessary to find political will and go this way – thus the quality of laws will be higher and the position in work with Chisinau.

“I stand for a strong legislature and competence. The greatest problem is personnel. We are trying to create a positive image for Gagauzia. But it is enough to watch the Gagauzia Popular Assembly sitting for just 5 minutes to get disappointed of the good life in Gagauzia. Our MPs are a disgrace to us. People are ashamed for what is happening in the GPA and they will assess the deputies”, Vlah said.

As for the possible dismissal of GPA Speaker Vladimir Kyssa, she said that had the MPs really wanted to dismiss him, they would have long done it.

“Any criticism should be well grounded and one must not descend into insults and indecent language, as this does not suit Gagauzia at all”, the official said.

Speaking about the appointment of ethnic Gagauz Alexandru Stoianoglo as Moldovan Prosecutor General, she stressed Vlah is a real professional.

“This post is his personal merit and challenge. Many leaders demanded him to withdraw his documents, but he demonstrated his Gagauz character. I think he succeeds. The more Gagauz people are there [in Moldovan power structures], the better”, the Bashkan said.
