TRANSNISTRIAN GOVERNMENT TO PRESENT MEASURES ON SUPPORTING POPULATION AND ECONOMIC AGENTS

Leadership of the unrecognized Transnistrian Moldovan republic (PMR) promise to publish at the beginning of the next week a complex of measures on supporting population and economic agents in conditions of the state of emergency due to threat of Covid-19 spreading.

This was the main topic of discussion at the Wednesday's extraordinary sitting of the supreme soviet [government], which approved the introduction of the state of emergency in the region for the period of March 17 through April 5.

After the sitting, PMR prime minister Alexander Martynov said to journalists that it is an unusual situation, the state government bodies have no much experience of work in conditions of the state of emergency, thus all decisions are taken in quite reduced time frames.

According to him, on the basis of the complex of supporting measures at the first stage is the providing of adjournments on taxes, rent payments, communal services. It is also considered the possibility of providing soft loans entrepreneurs could use for paying salaries to employees.

"Today, given the state of emergency, the entire row of enterprises is in a forced idle time. Many face lack of funds. The state, the bank structures are ready to help. A list of measures has already been prepared, by Tuesday this complex of measures will be completed and implemented", the PMR premier said.

He also said that profile agencies are starting the revision of the budget until the end of the year. Salaries and pensions will remain a priority.

"Besides developing measures for supporting the economy, we should understand how much financial resources will be available for the state until the end of the year. On this basis we can establish the scale of support measures the state may provide. I do not exclude that the Government will initiate an address to the Russian Federation for financial help in the current situation", Martynov said.
