PULMONOLOGY SECTION CLOSED IN CENTRAL TIRASPOL HOSPITAL DUE TO A CoV PATIENT

The number of patients with confirmed COVID-19 infection doubled in Transnistria last weekend, reaching 19 persons.

According to the region’s Operative Headquarters, as of the past Sunday evening there were 66 persons, including 9 under age, staying in the Slobozia Raion Hospital reorganized into an infectious hospital. The condition of a majority of 18 people with confirmed COVID-19 infection is of a medium gravity, and three are sick with pneumonia.

One of the ill patients, a 59-year-old citizen of Tiraspol, was delivered to the Slobozia infectious hospital from the Republican Clinical Hospital namely from its pulmonology section, where the man was taking a course of treatment.

By decision of the Operative Headquarters, the whole pulmonology section in the Republican Hospital has been temporarily closed. Its patients and personnel, who contacted the infected man, have been urgently isolated into a preventorium, where they will be staying under close medical control. From all of them, bio-samples were taken for analysis.

In the preventoriun, there are also more than 100 workers of the Moldavskaya power plant [in Transnistria, the Republic of Moldova’s largest energy producer], who contacted with a colleague who was found ill.

This past Sunday, a total of 26 people with suspicion for coronavirus were delivered to the Slobozia Raion Hospital from various Transnistrian localities. Their bio-samples will be sent to Chisinau for analysis.
