TRANSNISTRIAN HEALTH MINISTRY DEVELOPS PLAN ON OPENING HOSPITALS FOR TREATING CORONAVIRUS

The health ministry of the unrecognized Transnistrian Moldovan republic (PMR) presented at the Thursday’s government sitting a mechanism of actions at hospitalizing people with suspicion of Covid-19.

According to the Transnistrian government’ website, it is supposed that initially patients will be hospitalized in the local infectious department, which will be holding function of precautionary hospitals, Where biological samples will be collected and directed to laboratory. If the coronavirus is confirmed, the patients will be transferred to the Slobozia raion hospital, which will be directly engaged in their treatment, including people with severe forms.

After revising subjected institutions, places for precautionary hospitals were established. Camenca may receive up to 40 people, Rybnitsa – 220, Dubasari – 160, Grigoriopol – 20, Bender – 50, Tiraspol – 150, Slobozia – 300.

According to a pessimistic scenario, the region may need around 2300 beds for placing patients with varying levels of disease severity. For organizing additional precautionary hospitals it is planned to use sport objects, which will demand re-equipment.

Deputy minister of health Cristina Albul said that 850 packages of antiviral medication, recommended by the World Health Organization for treating the coronavirus infection, were brought to Transnistria.

“On average, this amount will be enough for 3-4 thousand people, if we take as basis the WHO recommendations on its administration during 3-5 days. According to our forecasts, it will be sufficient for us”, she said.
